We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who submitted to the Our Stories Redefined Anthology for African Writing 2024 (Flash Fiction) edition, responding to our call for flash fiction pieces. We received amazing submissions from writers across the continent, notably from Botswana, Somalia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Rwanda, Malawi, and our backyard here in Kenya. The quality of the pieces was impeccable, with a notable increase in submissions from the younger generation of writers from universities and colleges. This gives us hope for the future of African writing, as it is a testament to longevity with the future held in the hands of our children.
The theme ‘Love Made in Africa’ was beautifully covered in the pieces, with the shortlisted writers giving us the best interpretations on the subject. These contributions will eventually form a collection of positive stories that inspire, educate, and uplift. In a volatile world with sordid stories spewing onto our screens from every direction, these shortlisted writers have made us proud by writing against the grain and offering a much-needed breath of fresh air. Congratulations to all!
