Mystery Projects

To further redefine African stories, we run two projects to promote African literature

Annual

Our Stories Redefined

Anthology for African Writing

Launched in 2021, the Our Stories Redefined Anthology for African Writing is an annual poetry or flash fiction anthology. Targeting to publish the best 20 submissions, participants submit unpublished, original works; if their submissions are published, they should not be published anywhere else for six months. The author retains, all time, the copyright to their works; Mystery Publishers the anthology copyright.

Mystery Publishers pay the participants USD5.00 (East Africans) and USD7.50 (the rest of the world). Authors are not paid royalties. Revenue generated from the anthology sales is used to award pro rata scholarships to creative writing and self-publishing course to help up-and-coming author hone their creative writing skills and self-publish quality books.

Objectives

Opportunities

Create Opportunities for New-Age African Writers. African stories have straddled different generations, from the pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial eras, with ethnographic, been-to, anti-colonial, and nationalist stories of the ravages of Afro-modernity. The anthology is the vehicle for new-age African writers to tell stories of Africa’s current and future—Afrocurrency and Afrofuturism.

Redefine African Stories

Tell stories of a new generation not grappling with Afro-modernity but embracing Afro-currency with a hope for a better future for Africa in line with the African Union Agenda 2063.

Afrofuturism

Help Drive the African Union Agenda 2063 of The Africa We Want aspiring an Africa with a Strong Cultural Identity, Common Heritage, Values and Ethics through Cultural Heritage, Creative Arts and Businesses.

Sponsor Appeal Anthology

To inspire up-and-coming and motivate self-published authors, we need to appreciate their role in shaping an Africa with a Strong Cultural Identity, Common Heritage, Values and Ethics through Cultural Heritage, Creative Arts and Businesses.

The resources are not enough, but your support, no matter how little, will go a long way in supporting the up-and-coming writers. We target to pay the participants a minimum of USD500 and print 1000 copies of the anthology and distribute to community libraries in the participating countries.

Thus, we cordially invite corporates, institutions, foundations, and individuals to sponsor the anthology.
