Shortlisted Visual Artists for Our Stories Redefined Anthology for African Writing 2025 (Non-fiction) Edition

As we prepare to unveil the 2025 edition of “Our Stories Redefined: An Anthology for African Writing,” we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible visual artists who submitted their work for inclusion in this year’s non-fiction edition, themed ‘I Am Because You Are’. This collection, inspired by the concept of Ubuntu, explores the cycles of support within families, particularly the influence between parents and children. This anthology is an ode to how our upbringing shapes who we are—and who we are not.

The creativity depicted in the submitted pieces will infuse a vibrant and dynamic visual dimension to our anthology, enriching the narratives and providing readers with a deeper connection to the stories being told. The submitted pieces were also showcased in November 2024 at an exhibition organised by Mystery Publishers at Usanii Mashariki (U.M.) Gallery at The Waterfront, Karen.

We are truly honoured to showcase these works alongside the written contributions of our talented authors. The art complements the stories and stands as a powerful narrative in its own right, capturing the essence of our shared experiences and heritage.

To all the shortlisted artists: Thank you for being an integral part of this anthology and sharing your unique visions. We look forward to celebrating your contributions and continuing to support and promote the incredible talent within our community.
