It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere. That means it’s time for Smashwords biggest ebook sale of the year!
The 11th annual Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale kicks off July 1 and runs through July 31.

If you want to enroll multiple books at once, you’ll find a bulk enrollment option on the enrollment page under the column heading for each discount category. This time-saving feature allows authors and publishers to enroll their entire catalog at a selected discount level with just a couple clicks.
Starting on July 1, Smashwords will begin promoting the sale via email to over 1.5 million customers of the Smashwords Store. Be sure to enroll before the sale starts!
Readers will find the sale on the Smashwords home page, and can access it by clicking the “Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale” tab. We’ll also display a promotional shelf on the top of the main page to draw more readers into the sale.
Sale Leverages New Smashwords Book Discovery Interface
This will be the first Smashwords Summer/Winter sale to take advantage of the Smashwords new multi-dimensional book discovery interface, which launched in November, 2018 (read the news here.)
The new interface presents shelves organized around different themes. By clicking the category options, or price or length filters, readers can easily drill down to discover books that match their unique interests. On the dedicated promotion page for this sale, readers will also find shelves organized around different discount levels.
Each time a customer purchases your title during the sale, your title earns an incremental boost in shelf rank, which raises the visibility within the shelves. A Smashwords-distributed book also gains shelf rank during the sale (and every day) each time it sells a copy at one of our sales outlets such as Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and OverDrive. Note that this sale is exclusive to the Smashwords Store.
